Some experience is headed to the locker room for the Arizona Cardinals.
Guard Evan Mathis went down with a foot injury in the second quarter, and All22’s Bill Williamson tweeted out that the 13-year veterans’ return is questionable.

Mathis signed with the Cardinals in the offseason after winning a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos last season.
He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2005. After bouncing around the league for a while before he landed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011.
There he established himself as one of the best interior linemen in the league, being named to the All-Pro team in 2013.
The Cardinals trail the New England Patriots 10-7, at halftime. Their only score came from a Carson Palmer 3-yard touchdown pass to the always reliable Larry Fitzgerald. He has started the game where he left off last season. Palmer is 10-16 for 137 yards and no interceptions.
The Patriots struck first early in the opening quarter. Quarterback Jimmy Garappolo threw his second regular-season touchdown pass, a 37-yarder to wide receiver Chris Hogan.
Both of these teams have Super Bowl aspirations, but the Patriots are beginning the season without quarterback Tom Brady, tight end Rob Gronkowski and offensive tackle Nate Soldier.
The Cardinals looked like health was on their side with the return of defensive back Tyrann Mathieu. Hopefully they won’t be dealt a significant blow to their offense in game one.
