The New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals are currently facing off under the bright lights of “Monday Night Football”. The game started slow, with both teams having to punt to start, but something clicked with the Cardinals and, in particular, running back David Johnson.
Something clicked big.
The Jets are using a defensive lineman — Sheldon Richardson — as a linebacker on the play. When Johnson makes the first proper linebacker miss, Richardson has little chance to make a difference and Johnson is off to the races. He makes a cut, a big cut, and he’s gone.
The Cardinals scored, the extra point was good and now they lead the Jets, 7-0, in the first quarter of play.
The Cardinals badly need a win after a 2-3 start, but the Jets, at 1-4, need one more. Whatever the case, the Cardinals are out in front and the Jets have to come up with a solution to get back in the game.
