Remember Julio Jones’ rather quiet season? It’s noisy now in Atlanta.
The Atlanta Falcons wide receiver hadn’t caught a touchdown pass since Week 7. His touchdown drought is effectively over.
Jones lit up the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the tune of 13 catches for 252 yards to go with 2 touchdowns. He is the only player in NFL history to have three games with at least 250 receiving yards.
In the process of dominating Tampa Bay’s secondary, Jones surpassed Hall of Fame wide receiver Lance Alworth for the most receiving yards and Anquan Boldin for most receptions for a player through his first 90 NFL games, according to the Falcons’ official website.
“I was just open,” Jones said said following the game. via Vaughn McClure of ESPN. “They were just playing quarters. They mixed a little man in. They didn’t make any adjustments, so we just kept throwing the ball.”
The Falcons star wideout was open early and often. Tampa Bay might want to come up with a new defensive game plan next time around. The Buccaneers defense is going to have nightmares about Jones until they face the Falcons again on Dec. 18.
Tampa Bay will try to get revenge in Week 15. Week 12 was a TKO by Jones.
