Trai Turner got a real taste of celebrity today.
He is one of the four players that will appear on the regional covers for the Sports Illustrated NFL preview issue.
According to the Black and Blue Review this isn’t the first time Turner has appeared on the cover. An action shot of him protecting Cam Newton was used for a cover story on Newton last November.
This time he has the front of the magazine all to himself. Sports Illustrated went with a rising star theme for the preview issue and the other covers will feature Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, Green Bay Packers defensive end Mike Daniels and Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald.
Greg Bishop wrote the story, which is about how Turner’s passion for improving his game could make him a Hall of Fame player.
Turner made the Pro Bowl in 2015, his second season in the league. His highlight was taking arguably the best defender in the game, J.J. Watt, and putting him right on his back.
The offensive line is one of the strongest units on the Panthers, and is one of the reasons their offense surprised many with its production last season. With a healthy Kelvin Benjamin, the sky could be the limit for Carolina’s offense in 2016.
