Safety help needed: Panthers bringing in Major Wright
It’s never a good thing when most of your team’s safeties are in street clothes rather than pads. The Carolina Panthers are in that predicament with four of seven safeties injured.
To alleviate the issue the Panthers are bringing in safety Major Wright on Tuesday, according to the Black and Blue Review. The Panthers are expected to enter contract negotiations if Wright has a successful workout.
Wright was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two days ago. If the safety has an impressive showing he could see the field sooner rather than later.
Carolina worked out Donte Whitner and Stevie Brown last week. The Panthers apparently didn’t like what they saw in the two safeties.
It’s been a lousy offseason for the Panthers defensive back group. Aside from having multiply safeties out, Carolina is still coping with the loss of All-Pro cornerback Josh Norman.
