Technology sometimes has a downside.
Many reporters don’t use voice recorders these days, they instead use their phones. One of them rang during Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton’s press conference. He decided to answer the phone and surprise the person on the other line.
“Hello, Veronica can I call you right back, I’m doing an interview right now, thank you,” Newton said on the phone, via the Panthers Twitter handle. “That wasn’t my phone by the way.”

The funniest part of the video, however, is when a reporter saw Newton put the phone to his ear. This is an assumption, but judging by a lone voice in the audience blurting out “oh geez,” it was probably that reporter’s phone.
Newton had a lot to say during his press conference today. The Panthers are coming off of a bye week and have started the season 1-5. Newton told the media that Panthers need to win at a rapid pace, and said that “We need to get that feeling back in Charlotte that people fear [the Panthers],” via the Associated Press’ Steve Reed.
