Bengals CB Adam Jones won’t return against Steelers
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones figured to see a healthy dose of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown on Monday Night Football in Week 13. However, it appears the Bengals will have to modify their plans for defending one of the NFL’s greatest receivers.
Jones had to leave on Monday night with a groin injury and, according to Jay Morrison of the Dayton Daily News, he’s been downgraded to out for the remainder of the game.
Brown entered the contest with injury concerns of his own. He was listed as questionable with a right toe injury and his status was genuinely up in the air until just less than two hours before game time.
After coming out for warm-ups with his jersey, helmet and game pants with pads on, Brown was eventually activated for the rivalry matchup. And he seems to be dealing with the pain pretty well, with 3 catches for 41 yards in the first 16:31 of game action.
However, the Bengals are leading the Steelers 10-0 with 13:29 to play in the second quarter.
Without Jones, William Jackson III will be asked to play a larger role in the secondary. Jackson is a former first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Darqueze Dennard and KeiVarae Russell will also get more reps at cornerback.
