The last memory we have of Vontaze Burfict is when he drew a penalty for hitting Antonio Brown high amid the Cincinnati Bengals’ collapse in the AFC playoffs.
Burfict will start the season on a three-game suspension for the illegal play.
How will Burfict spend his extra free time? Well the linebacker is going to be a kind big brother and help his sister transition to her first year in college.
“I missed the family trip to put her in her dorm, but I told her I’d come out there,”Burfict said, per ESPN.com.
The Arizona State product won’t be able to return until Week 4 when the Bengals take on the Miami Dolphins at home. Burfict plans on watching Cincinnati’s first three games and having a little watch party with his sister during the process.
“I will be watching some way,” Burfict admitted. “I’ve never really watched a game with her, so it would be my first to watch with her, probably treat her out to dinner or something.”
Without Burfict, the Bengals will have their hands full in the first three weeks. Cincinnati will face the Jets, Steelers and Broncos while their playmaking linebacker in suspended.
Despite the suspension, Burfict seems to have already turned the page from a rough ending to last season.
“Of course you want to be out there, but these are the cards that I was dealt,” the linebacker explained.
