Barkevious Mingo didn’t mince his words when he spoke about his former employer.
The linebacker is ecstatic to be a member of the New England Patriots as opposed to the Cleveland Browns.
“It’s a huge culture shock,” Mingo said, per The Boston Herald. “I felt like the winning spirit was making its way into Cleveland with those new coaches, but it’s definitely been established here for a long time, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
The difference between the two franchises is drastic. New England is a perennial winner while Cleveland is frequent doormat in the AFC North.
Mingo (seven career sacks) should see an uptick in production with the Patriots simply due to more talent on defense. His three-year stint with the Browns was borderline bust worthy. New England traded their most reliable pass rusher Chandler Jones to the Cardinals and will use a steady dose of edge rushers to fill the void.
“It’s very exciting,” the 2013 first-round pick said. “This team is stacked at every position. They have guys on the outside who can cover. We’ve got interior guys who are holding gaps and linebackers that are hitting those gaps and making big plays. I’m just excited to be a part of it.”
It isn’t the first time we’ve seen a player join New England in hopes to rejuvenate their career and it won’t be the last.
