The Dallas Cowboys don’t have many problems right now, in fact at 5-1 the team is at a position of strength.
But Dallas could make a minor splash before Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline and bolster the defense. Mid-season trades are extremely rare in the NFL, but here are some players Dallas should consider making a move for.
Mario Williams or Cameron Wake
The Cowboys defense has been good, but let’s make the pass rush even better. The Miami Dolphins have a pair of pass rushers that are stealing playing time from each other. This seems like the perfect opportunity for Dallas to pounce. Williams may be the more desirable candidate, but Wake would also add another weapon to the Cowboys defensive arsenal.
It would probably take a mid-to-late round pick to swing the deal and the Dolphins would benefit from the salary relief.
The Chicago Bears outside linebacker would be a good fit in Dallas. Young is on a team right now that isn’t going anywhere soon, and he could be a contributor on a team with Super Bowl aspirations after this potential deal.
Young already has six sacks, 14 tackles, and forced a fumble this season. He could reasonably come to Dallas for a fourth or sixth round pick.
This would be more of a depth trade at defensive tackle, where the Cowboys can only add to a stocked cupboard. The Cowboys could use a veteran to rotate with rookie Maliek Collins at the position. Marks is just two years removed from an 8.5-sack season, so he’s still got gas in the tank.
Once again, this would likely cost Dallas a later draft pick.
