Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz both have no problems using their legs to make a big play.
However, Wentz’s effort to score a touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14 didn’t achieve pay dirt, and it cost him the rest of the 2017 season. His left knee got hit as he was diving into the end zone, and the AL in that knee was torn.
That injury will not make Prescott avoiding using his mobility to simply avoid getting hurt.
“No, I’m not going to put that in my mind,” Prescott said, via the Dallas Morning News’ Jon Machota. “”I don’t think anybody is. That’s part of the game. That just comes with it. Us running quarterbacks, we know that we’re susceptible to that when we’re running.
“For me, it’s just about going to get what I can. If I need to get that touchdown, or in his case right there, it was needed. He went and got it. That’s just him being a competitor. I’ll treat the game the same way as I’ve been playing.”
A lot of what makes those players talented football players is their ability to give the defense something extra to worry about with their running ability. Obviously they shouldn’t use it recklessly, but neither Wentz nor Prescott will be the best players they can be without using all of their talents.
