Dallas Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey will be on the mend for a while. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the Cowboys kicker is expected to miss several weeks with a groin strain.
Bailey injured his kicking leg warming up during the second quarter in Sunday’s 40-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Cowboys safety Jeff Heath handled field goal and kickoff duties for the team in Bailey’s absence and converted 2 of 3 extra-point attempts. It was Heath’s first time kicking in a game since high school.
With Bailey out, the Cowboys are looking for a contingency plan at kicker. ESPN’s Field Yates reported that the team is planning to work out kickers Mike Nugent, Jason Myers, Sam Irwin Hill and Younghoe Koo.
