It would be reasonable for Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith to be on edge about the Monday Night Football matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
The last time Smith played at University of Phoenix Stadium was during the Fiesta Bowl in 2016. That day, he suffered a severe leg injury that almost ended his career and caused him to fall to the Cowboys in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
However, Smith said he has no issues about returning to the stadium.
“None whatsoever,” Smith said, via ESPN’s Todd Archer. “From the start, God got me. You know what I mean? So I don’t go out there worrying about anything of that nature.”
That is an impressive mindset, even if the circumstances are different. Smith will be playing in a professional football game for the Cowboys, not a bowl game for Notre Dame.
However, this is an important hill to get over. For him to take the field at University of Phoenix Stadium with no worries is a good sign for the rest of his career.
