Ezekiel Elliott is more than ready to make his NFL debut. In fact, he’s ready to dominate as a rookie.
Many fans and pundits, especially in the fantasy football community, are excited for Elliott’s debut as well. The Ohio State product enters an ideal situation in Dallas, which means expectations will be high for the No. 4 overall pick. Those expectations don’t phase Elliott whatsoever.
“This is what I’ve worked my whole life for and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Elliott told NFL Network’s Michael Irvin. “I’m excited for the season, I’m excited to start this journey and I’m ready to go kick some ass.”
Teammate Dez Bryant knows a thing or two about bluster. He told Irvin he’s loved what he’s seen from Elliott.
“I love his confidence,” Bryant told Irvin. “I love the swagger about him. I think whenever you ballin’ and you come from Ohio State you full of swagger, so I think that gives us some things to work with and a lot of confidence in him.”
That’s exactly what Cowboys fans want to hear after a dismal 4-12 season. Elliott’s debut will be postponed at least a week, as he is still working his way back from a minor hamstring tweak. The Cowboys aren’t taking any chances with Elliott’s health, but he should be back on the practice field before the third preseason game.
Until then, fans will just have to stay patient. But don’t worry, Elliott will probably be worth the wait.
