Tony Romo is getting healthier, but he’s not quite ready to comeback yet.
Romo has made considerable progress while recovering from his back injury, but has not been cleared to practice and might need another MRI to do so, according to CBSSports.com’s Jason La Canfora.
It might not even matter if Romo was cleared to practice this week, as a source told La Canfora there’s pretty much no chance Romo would even dress next weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles. If Romo continues to progress, Week 10 could be when Cowboys coach Jason Garrett has to decide between Romo and rookie Dak Prescott.
This decision has become much more difficult and that isn’t a bad thing. Prescott has seized the opportunity after Romo and backup Kellen Moore went down with injuries. Prescott has helped the Cowboys to a 5-1 record and has thrown for 1,486 yards, seven touchdowns and only one interception.
While Romo is making positive strides, it looks like his return won’t be for at least one more week.
