If the Denver Broncos are going to launch a comeback in the second half against the San Diego Chargers, they’ll have to do it without one of their receivers. Nicki Jhabvala of The Denver Post reports Cody Latimer has exited the game with a concussion and will not return.
Latimer hasn’t done much for the Broncos this season, so how much it hurts their chances of winning is debatable. The third-year wideout has not been targeted in the contest, entering the week with 3 catches for 22 yards and a 24.7 average on six kickoffs. The 2014 second-round draft pick has just 1 career touchdown in the NFL.
That being said, all concussions are serious and need to be treated as such. The concern here is not necessarily how impacts the Broncos’ odds of winning or losing, but how it impacts Latimer’s short-term and long-term health.
Still, it does hurt the Broncos on some level, if only because it cuts into their depth. Latimer pulls some snaps on offense and plays on special teams as well.
