As if things couldn’t get any worse for the Denver Broncos in San Diego, an injury to one of their best playmakers could potentially have more far-reaching implications than the outcome of the game on Thursday. Emmanuel Sanders took a hard hit to the back area while making a reception in the fourth quarter and is questionable to return.
After the hit, Sanders ran off to the sideline and immediately went to the ground, where he was looked at by trainers. The Pro Bowl wide receiver did briefly re-enter to the game, but Nicki Jhabvala for The Denver Post reports Sanders is officially questionable with a hip injury.
Sanders already was back in the game, but after making a reception, he left once again. The hip will be a situation to monitor next week as it will undoubtedly land him on the injury report at the very least.
The Broncos certainly could use Sanders right now, because despite a miserable performance for the first three quarters against the Chargers, they’re still trying to make a game of it. With 32 catches for 372 yards and 3 touchdowns entering the week, he’s easily one of their most consistent and dangerous threats in the passing attack.
