It is undeniable that Aqib Talib of the Denver Broncos is one of the best cornerbacks currently playing in the NFL.
When his career is over he will also likely go down as one of the best defensive backs in the history of league. Last season an interception return for a touchdown in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts was the 9th of his career.
That tied him with some of the greatest players NFL history. Hall of Fame defensive backs Aeneas Williams and Deion Sanders have also returned 9 interceptions for touchdowns, via USA Today Sports’ Jim Reineking.
Talib has been an outstanding player since he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft. However, off-the-field problems plagued the early part of his career.
The Buccaneers traded him to the New England Patriots in November of 2012. He played another season with the Patriots in 2013 before signing a six-year contract with the Broncos in 2014.
Since then he been a major cog in a defensive backfield that has been the best in the NFL for two consecutive seasons.
Talib is 31 now, and the end of his career is far closer than the beginning. With the time he has left, he will surely be looking to cement his legacy among the all-time greats.
