The Denver Broncos are well on the way to their first victory since Oct. 1, and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas moved up the franchise record books in the process.
Thomas went into to their Week 14 matchup against the New York Jets 58 yards behind Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe for No. 2 all-time in receiving yards in Broncos’ history. He passed Sharpe during the game, and is now only behind wide receiver Rod Smith, via The Denver Post’s Nicki Jhabvala.
The Broncos selected Thomas in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Since then he has won a Super Bowl, made five Pro Bowls and was named second-team All-Pro in 2013 and 2014.
He was expected to be a No. 1 wide receiver for the Broncos, and he has been just that for nearly a decade. However, the record will feel even better once his team secures a victory against the Jets.
They are leading the Jets 23-0 with just over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
