C.J. Anderson had a nice game on Monday night, rushing 16 times for 107 yards and a touchdown. It was an extraordinary game, however, when you consider the fact that just three days later, the Broncos running back was going under the knife for a torn meniscus he sustained in the first quarter.
Based on a Tweet from Anderson himself, even his doctor couldn’t quite figure out how the fourth-year veteran was able to play through the injury, and at such a high level no less. When even the surgeon is in awe, you know what the athlete did must’ve been pretty remarkable.
Of course, this is all based on Anderson’s own account of the conversation he had with his doctor, so it’s possible some of what was said was paraphrased or even slightly embellished. The important part here is somebody thinks Anderson is going to bounce back from this surgery, and quickly, even if that’s only the back’s own mentality.
