Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak spoke to the media following team practice on Saturday in advance of the team’s Monday Night Football showdown with the Houston Texans in Week 7.
Kubiak updated the status of injured players, saying he expected both Russell Okung and Cody Latimer, who are dealing with concussions, to be cleared through the final portion of the NFL’s concussion protocol on Saturday. Both practiced with the team on Saturday, Kubiak said.
He also talked about outside linebacker Demarcus Ware and the timeline for his return. He said that the Broncos expect Ware to return to the team “next week,” but when asked if he could play against the San Diego Chargers, said that he didn’t want to “get ahead of myself.”
Kubiak said that the Broncos practiced well and handled the extended break between games “well.” He was asked specifically if he was allowed some extra time to reflect on the team and Kubiak said there was “no doubt” that he had plenty of time for “self-analysis.”
The Broncos won the first four games of the season but have lost their last two. They need to get back in the win column and would be especially happy to best their former quarterback, Brock Osweiler, on Monday.
