The Denver Broncos will get to face Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler on Sunday. He’s no longer injured and ready to play against the team that once made him a first-round pick back when Mike Shanahan was still running things and the Broncos were looking for the next John Elway at quarterback, rather than being led by John Elway the GM.
“Not a surprise, but Dolphins QB Jay Cutler is out of the NFL’s concussion protocol and will start Sunday, coach Adam Gase told reporters,” wrote NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Interestingly, the Broncos are actually favored to win this game, even though it’s in Miami. Remember, the Broncos have now lost seven straight, including a loss to the then winless New York Giants and last week’s loss to the slumping Oakland Raiders.
“The Broncos moved up to a 2.5-point favorite at Miami in many Vegas sportsbooks this morning,” wrote Andy Slater of 940-AM WINZ.
“This is frankly, amazing,” added Troy Renck of Denver7. “Broncos have lost 7 straight games and haven’t won a road game this season. Sinking ships collide.”
It is pretty astounding, and it could wind up being an ugly game as the 3-8 Broncos and the 4-7 Dolphins are both at the very bottom of their respective divisions. But it will be interesting to see Cutler and head coach Adam Gase, once a Broncos assistant, face their old team.
