Vance Joseph is headed to Denver.
The Denver Broncos reportedly got the man that the team targeted all along.
Denver’s expected hiring of Joseph is a move backed by Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.
Phillips told Gil Whitelely of 1340-AM in Denver that he’s happy for his onetime protege.
It’s reasonable to assume that Phillips’ job is secure as defensive coordinator with the hiring of Joseph.
Joseph met with the Broncos for four hours on Tuesday. It was widely speculated that he was the team’s No. 1 candidate once Gary Kubiak retired.
The long-time assistant coach was also on the top of the San Diego Chargers’ list and took interviews with several other teams looking for a head coach.
Joseph was the defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins last season.
