Detroit Lions punter Sam Martin has established himself as one of the league’s best punters. On Friday, he was rewarded.
The Lions signed Martin to a four-year extension worth $13.6 million, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. The contract also contains an extra $1 million of incentives.
Martin finished fourth in the NFL last season with a net punting average of 42 yards. He also pinned 25 of his 80 punts inside the 20-yard-line.
Martin is entering his fourth season with the Lions and has a career net punting average of 41.1 yards.
