Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy didn’t provide much on wide receiver Jordy Nelson during his Wednesday press conference.
“Jordy Nelson will be working with the rehab group today,” McCarthy explained, per the team’s official website. “That’s his status.”
Nelson won’t take part in practice on Wednesday or Thursday as he recovers from two broken ribs. The team is optimistic that the wideout can practice on Saturday.
The ninth-year receiver injured his ribs when Giants defensive back Leon Hall delivered a hard shot in the second quarter during Green Bay’s wild-card win. Nelson left the game and never returned.
Wide receivers Randall Cobb and Davante Adams will assume bigger roles if Nelson is unable to go. McCarthy explained the Packers want to give Cobb the football regardless of Nelson’s status.
“At the end of the day it’s about getting Randall (Cobb) the football. Good things happen when you get him the football.”
