Eddie Lacy is a big guy, and big guys aren’t exactly slippery runners. So, Lacy is considering something he hasn’t done in roughly a year: Get his hair cut.
Lacy’s dreadlocks are holding him back, apparently. The running back told the Green Bay Press Gazette’s Ryan Wood he’s sick of being tackled by opponents grabbing at his hair after a similar incident occurred during Friday night’s preseason game against San Francisco. Lacy is considering visiting his barber during Green Bay’s bye week.
“I’m debating after that,” Lacy told Wood. “I don’t know how many more of those I’d like to experience. We’re in camp. So I’ve got to wait until I get out of camp, and then I’ll assess it.”
It’s already been an extreme makeover kind of offseason for Lacy, who has shed 10 pounds during the summer. After a disappointing season where Lacy’s weight was blamed for his struggles, the fourth-year tailback is showing signs of getting back to his old form.
A haircut could also help Lacy’s weight loss initiative. Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Breshad Perriman said he lost three or four pounds after cutting his hair earlier this week.
At this point, Lacy should do whatever it takes to get his career back on track.
