The Green Bay Packers entered tonight’s game against the Chicago Bears with serious problems in their backfield.
Ty Montgomery took care of that issue, and still excelled at his normal position in the Packers 26-10 victory. He caught 10 passes for 66 yards and ran the ball 9 times for 60 yards. That led the team in rushing.
Eddie Lacy and James Starks did not dress tonight because of injury. Practice-squad running back Don Jackson was called up, and was listed as the starter for the Packers tonight. Knile Davis was signed during the week and was the only other running back on the depth chart tonight.

The Packers did not go to Davis until the game was nearly over, because Montgomery lined up at tailback for nearly every play.
He lined up in the backfield quite a bit at Stanford, and the Packers use him and Randall Cobb, who tallied 5 carries for 21 yards tonight, for a change of pace.
Green Bay will probably have to make some calls so hopefully they won’t have to throw the ball 56 times again, even if many of those were short passes and shovel passes.
