JJ Watt might be back in the near future.
The Houston Texans star expects to return to practice next week, according to a report from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. However, ESPN’s Ed Werder contradicted that report by suggesting there is no timetable for Watt’s return.
This would be outstanding news for the Texans, who could get their star defensive end back for their regular season opener. Watt has been recovering from back surgery throughout training camp. Apparently the workout warrior’s recovery has been ahead of schedule, which shouldn’t surprise anyone.
Watt was cleared to run earlier in the week and foreshadowed an imminent return on his Twitter page Wednesday night.

It shouldn’t stun a soul if Watt is healthy for the team’s Week 1 contest against the Chicago Bears. In fact, perhaps it should be expected.
