It’s still a mystery to why Jacksonville Jaguars running back Chris Ivory landed in a hospital.
The running back was declared inactive just an hour before Jacksonville’s home opener when the team announced that he was dealing with a “general medical issue.”
Ivory was admitted to a local area hospital on Sunday morning and remains hospitalized for undisclosed reasons.
ESPN is reporting that Ivory is in pain and will undergo more tests to determine the plan of action to treat the running back.
The seventh-year running back’s return to the backfield obviously takes a back seat to his health. His status remains uncertain until being cleared medically. Although he is reportedly expected to be fine soon.
In Ivory’s absence, T.J. Yeldon received the bulk of the carries at running back. Yeldon rushed for just 39 yards on 21 carries during the team’s 27-23 Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Before Ivory’s health issue, he was expected to spit carries with Yeldon in the backfield. Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said prior to Week 1 that he didn’t know who would start at running back for the team. At the time neither running back had separated far enough to be named starter.
When Ivory comes back he still has a solid chance to start, Yeldon certainly didn’t make a strong case on Sunday.
