Jacksonville Jaguars running back Chris Ivory will not play this week against the Green Bay Packers and his injury status is currently in flux.
Ivory, who was questionable all week with a calf injury, was admitted to the hospital Sunday morning with a general medical issue, according to Jacksonville.com’s Ryan O’Halloran. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reports Ivory will be reevaluated for this issue later this week and his status for Week 2 is unknown. Jaguars Senior Manager of Public Relations, Tad Dickman, reports Ivory is doing well and should be released from the hospital in the next day or two.
This means second-year running back T.J. Yeldon will get the bulk of the carries Sunday afternoon against the Green Bay Packers. Yeldon rushed for 740 yards and two touchdowns during his rookie season.
Jacksonville’s backfield was expected to be a timeshare, and perhaps a 50/50 spilt, between Yeldon and Ivory. It looks like Yeldon will get the lion’s share this week as Ivory recovers.
