Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and Los Angeles Rams cornerback LaMarcus Joyner were both ejected from last weekend’s preseason game for fighting. Now, they’re paying the price.
The NFL has fined both players $9,115 for their skirmish during the waning stages of the second quarter of Los Angeles’ 21-20 victory, according to USA Today’s Tom Pelissero.
The altercation started after Maclin and Joyner bumped into each other, somewhat intentionally, in the endzone. Both were spotted jawing at each other, then Joyner shoved Maclin away, only fueling the standoff more. A flag was thrown as an official rushed to separate the players, but both continued to push and shove at each other.
Maclin had caught three passes for 48 yards prior to the ejection. Pelissero reports both players received the minimum fine for the incident.
