Los Angeles Chargers safety Adrian Phillips got banged up during their Saturday night matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, and his wife Camille was extremely concerned.
She found her way to the sideline to be with him, but she was not escorted by a Chargers employee. Camille simply came down out of the stands. and as the medical tent was being put over her husband, she was there, according to CBS Sports’ Jamie Erdahl.
Adrian went to the locker room with an ankle injury, but was able to return to the game, which the Chiefs won 30-13. Camille was escorted off the field by police, according to Erdahl.
Hopefully, no action is taken against her. She clearly shouldn’t have jumped out of the stands, but that’s her husband. It was an emotional response due to concern about someone she loves.
Also, the Chiefs need to improve the security on the visitor’s sideline.
Camille did receive some support on social media, most notably coming from Holly Robinson Peete, an actress and the wife of a former NFL player. Peete, married to former quarterback Rodney Peete, remembered when her husband got hurt during a Monday Night Football game and she made her way to the locker room.
