Joey Bosa didn’t sign with the San Diego Chargers until this week and he won’t count against San Diego’s 53-man roster in the short-term future.
The Chargers received a roster exemption on Bosa, who carried his holdout into the final week of the preseason. San Diego waived 21 other players to get their roster down to 53 men.
After a long standoff, Bosa finally joined the Chargers on a four-year deal. The Chargers are hoping Bosa can develop into a stud after recording 18.5 sacks the past two seasons with Ohio State.
There’s no word on when Bosa would begin to count on the 53-man roster.
