The Rams invested the eighth-overall pick in Tavon Austin back in 2013 when the franchise was still located in St. Louis. Now in Los Angeles, the Rams are making another substantial investment in the playmaking receiver.
Austin and the Rams have agreed to a four-year deal worth $42 million, including $30 million guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. With incentives, Schefter reports the deal could be worth as much as $52 million.
After a sluggish start to his career, Austin’s third season was his best. He caught 52 passes for 473 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 434 yards and four touchdowns. Austin had as many carries as he did receptions, proving to be one of the league’s most versatile weapons in coach Jeff Fisher’s offense.
