Miami Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore’s pain was an Internet prankster’s comic relief. After a big hit by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree on Sunday, Moore’s Wikipedia entry was altered to read he had expired as a result of the vicious shot.
Moore was flattened and appeared to be seriously injured when Dupree led with his helmet in the second quarter of the Dolphins’ 30-12 first-round playoff loss to the Steelers. The signal caller only wound up missing one play despite lying on the field for awhile, but it was a brutal collision regardless.
That’s when people began noticing Moore’s status had been changed on the free online encyclopedia. For a short time, Wikipedia showed Moore as having passed away on Jan. 8, 2017, and even went so far as to list the cause of death as Dupree. Now that’s not very nice. What if Moore had been seriously hurt?

Despite the lopsided final score, Moore played well while standing in for injured Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, completing 29 of 36 passes for 289 yards and a touchdown. The nine-year veteran was charged with an interception and lost 2 fumbles, all those weren’t all entirely on the guy under center.
Most of all, Moore stood in there and took shot after shot in a futile attempt to get the Dolphins to the next round. And, no, he did not die in the process — though for a moment, maybe he wished he would have.
