Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi injures shoulder vs. Steelers
Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi exited Sunday’s playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth quarter with a left shoulder injury. Adam Beasley for the Miami Herald reports Ajayi is questionable to return.
CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson also noted during the television broadcast that this is the same shoulder Ajayi hurt against the Buffalo Bills in Week 16.
The injury occurred during a seemingly innocuous tackle, but Ajayi’s shoulder hit the turf hard. The current temperature in Pittsburgh is only 17 degrees, so it probably wasn’t significantly softer than being brought down on concrete.
The Dolphins are well on their way to losing, which will end their season, so Ajayi’s injury likely has no relevance on the outcome of this game or any contests in the immediate future. It doesn’t seem so serious that it will be of concern come September either — although if he aggravated the previous issue, it may be something to monitor as the team goes into the offseason.
