Jay Ajayi joined rare company on Sunday.
The Miami Dolphins running back became just the fourth running back to rush for 200 yards in consecutive weeks. Ajayi broke the 200-yard barrier in the fourth quarter versus the Buffalo Bills. He joined Earl Campbell, Ricky Williams and O.J. Simpson as the only running backs to accomplished the two-game feat.
Ajayi rumbled for 214 yards on 29 carries and reached the end zone once in Week 7’s victory over the Buffalo Bills. He averaged over seven yards per carry on the day.
Miami’s second-year running back scampered for 204 yards on 25 carries in a 30-15 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last week.
The Boise State product has turned around his season in a major way. His two-game accomplishment is a far cry from when he was left off the team plan to Seattle after being being demoted to second string.
Ajayi’s reemergence as a running back is a major reason why the Dolphins (3-4) are in the midst of a two-game winning streak.
