Always listen to your mom.
Minnesota Vikings second-year linebacker Eric Kendricks did just that on Sunday.
Kendricks’ mom, Yvonne Thagon, requested via text message that she wanted her son to register a sack Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans. The linebacker responded he wanted an interception. So Thagon went a step further and asked for a pick 6.
Kendricks picked off Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota late in the third quarter and ran 77 yards down the field to score a touchdown for Minnesota. The interception put the Vikings ahead 12-10. It was a lead Minnesota would never relinquish.
After the Vikings’ 25-16 win, Kendricks posted on social media a picture of the text conversation he had with his mom.
The former UCLA linebacker also registered six tackles to go with his mom’s request.
Stay tuned for Thagon’s Week 2 desire. The Vikings host Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in their home opener to showcase their brand new U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday night.
