The Patriots are flying high, remaining as the only one-loss team in the AFC, a game ahead of the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East and owners of back-to-back, double-digit victories in Tom Brady’s first two games under center. Even still, head coach Bill Belichick felt the need to announce a new addition to New England’s depth chart during his Tuesday morning conference call.
Belichick announced the birth of his first grandchild. His son, Steve, and fiancee, Jennifer, gave birth to Blakely Rose on Tuesday morning.
BB (on grandpa): "We can add newborn Blakely Rose to the depth chart. She was born this morning to my son Steve and the real MVP, Jen."

Steve is the second oldest of the 64-year-old Belichick’s three children he raised with his ex-wife Debby Clarke. Belichick’s first-born son played lacrosse and football at Rutgers University, before being hired as a Patriots assistant coach in May 2012. After four years as a coaching assistant, the 2016 campaign is Steve’s first season as New England’s safeties coach.
