Dr. Bennet Omalu, the first doctor to discover and establish the link between chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and the sport of professional football, praised Gisele Bundchen for her courage and conviction.
In an interview with TMZ.com, Omalu called it “angelic” for the wife of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to go public on the CBS morning show Wednesday about what she called concussions he suffered.
“She’s an angel of truth, an angel of love. The truth is empowering, enlightening. She is my hero,” said the doctor. “She’s just being a human being. She’s being an angel. She loves her husband. She loves all of us.”
Brady and the Patriots never reported concussions or concussion-like symptoms to the league during the 2016 season, and the NFL stated the injuries never occurred.
Omalu’s work was the the inspiration for the movie Concussion. He was portrayed in the film by Will Smith.
