New England Patriots linebacker Harvey Langi was injured in a car accident back in the middle of October. On Friday, he returned to the locker room.
“Harvey Langi just made an appearance in the Patriots locker room,” wrote Ryan Hannable of WEEI. “Believe that’s the first time we’ve seen him since [the] car accident. Was walking normally and appeared in good spirits.”
He’s not going to play. The team said at the time he was likely done for the year. However, considering how bad those initial reports looked, it’s terrific to see him recovering.
“The accident happened when a vehicle rear-ended the car Langi was driving as he attempted to make a left turn,” noted Joseph Zucker of Bleacher Report. “The impact propelled Langi’s car into two automobiles ahead of it. Firefighters needed the Jaws of Life to open a hole in Langi’s car big enough to rescue Harvey and [his wife] Cassidy. Harvey suffered head and neck injuries, while Cassidy fractured her hips and ribs. Doctors were also evaluating whether she had internal bleeding.”
The man who caused the accident is facing charges. He had an open container of alcohol, according to Sports Illustrated’s Dan Gartland, and slammed into the back of Langi’s car at about 50 miles per hour. He also allegedly had prescription drugs, which could bring about felony charges.
