Julian Edelman was all smiles after the New England Patriots’ season-opening 23-21 victory against the Arizona Cardinals.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss tweeted out one of his quotes from the post-game interview with NBC’s Michele Tafoya. “Love you buddy,” Edelman said to Tafoya referring to Brady. “Gonna get a couple more for you. A few more.”

Edelman was an excellent security blanket for quarterback Jimmy Garappolo in his first-career NFL start, since he would be missing All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski and starting left tackle Nate Soldier.
The veteran receiver led the Patriots in receiving, catching 7 passes for 66 yards.
Garappolo filled in beautifully for Brady. He went 24-33 for 264 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions. The best may have been last as he orchestrating the eventual game-winning drive for the Patriots.
After Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald caught his 100th career touchdown pass to give Arizona the lead, the young quarterback went to work. He had to complete a long-pass on 3rd and 15 after getting sacked on first down and throwing an incomplete pass on second.
He converted another third down and led the Patriots, through some more late game mistakes, down to the Cardinals 14-yard line. That set up a chip shot for field goal kicker Steven Gostkowski.
