Julian Edelman is not going to open up his checkbook without a fight.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss is reporting that the New England Patriots wide receiver is being fined $26,000 for a hit on a defenseless player, but will appeal it.

The play was not specified, but NESN’s Zach Cox, via Pro Football Talk, shared a video that appeared to show the infraction. Edelman took a shot at Arizona Cardinals linebacker Deone Buchannon’s head/neck area.
LRT: Gonna guess this was the hit that earned Edelman his fine. https://t.co/5yiEYUjM2P

Edelman was the Patriots’ leading receiver in their dramatic season-opening 23-21 victory against the Cardinals on Sunday Night Football. He caught 7 passes for 66 yards.
He had to shoulder the load as the No. 1 option for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Three of the Patriots’ best offensive players, quarterback Tom Brady, tight end Rob Gronkowski and tackle Nate Soldier didn’t play on Sunday. Grokowski returned to practice on Wednesday, but according to Doug Kyed he appeared limited in practice.
I'm no doctor, but I wouldn't say Rob Gronkowski is moving around at 100 percent yet.

It doesn’t appear that Gronk will miss a significant amount of time, but the Patriots will be without Brady until Week 5 because of his suspension from Deflategate.
