The fog rolled in thick as the New England Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football and Julio Jones says it impacted the game.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick admitted it’s caused some problems for them, as well, though it wasn’t the game itself that was impacted.
“It affected us a lot this morning, because it’s hard to see the game. 4th quarter pretty much close to whiteout,” Belichick said according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com.
Known as one of the NFL’s master gameplanners, not having usable tape from the final quarter is undoubtedly disappointing to Belichick and the Patriots. Especially considering it was one of their best defensive performances in quite some time.
The Patriots would like to take their win on Sunday night and build upon that defensively. So the coaches would have been eager to get into the film as quickly as they could on Monday, only to find some of the tape can barely be seen.
Chances are, the Patriots and Belichick will manage putting together their next gameplan without it, or they’ll be able to glean enough from the tape they do have to pull enough useful information from it as they can and put it into play against the Los Angeles Chargers next week.
