New England Patriots defensive tackle Woodrow Hamilton left Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals with a shoulder injury.
Hamilton went down on the field and stayed down for some time before he went to the sideline. Not long after, the Patriots announced his return to the game was questionable with a shoulder injury.
An undrafted rookie out of Ole Miss, Hamilton has been playing due to the injury to fellow rookie defensive lineman Vincent Valentine. Hamilton has impressed Patriots coaches in practice and his promotion to the active roster was always seen as likely, even before Valentine’s injury.
Hamilton had three tackles in his debut and played 22 snaps on defense. It’s not a massive loss for the Patriots, but the defensive line is getting very thin. An injury to linebacker Jonathan Freeny weakened the front seven as a whole on top of that. The sooner Hamilton can return, the better for the patriots.
