With roughly four hours until the 4 PM EDT deadline for 53-man roster cuts, the New England Patriots have released wide receiver Aaron Dobson, according to a report from Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.

A second-round pick (No. 59 overall) out of Marshall in the 2013 NFL Draft, Dobson made 53 catches for 698 yards and 4 touchdowns in his three seasons with the Patriots. However, with 37 of those catches, 513 of the yards and all four touchdowns coming in his rookie season, his impact hasn’t been felt the past two seasons.
Reports surfaced earlier this week that Dobson was being shopped around by the Patriots. However, after failing to find a trade partner, he was placed on waivers. He’ll have an opportunity to be claimed by one of the other 31 teams or be granted his outright release on Sunday afternoon.
