The New England Patriots suddenly have an embarrassment of riches at the wide receiver spot.
Just several short weeks ago, head coach Bill Belichick entered the team’s Week 15 matchup against the New York Jets with just wide receivers Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, rookie Malcolm Mitchell and special teams captain Matthew Slater available to run routes.
Fast forward to the Patriots’ first game of the playoffs — Mitchell has emerged as a standout rookie, Danny Amendola is back to 100 percent after nursing an ankle injury for several weeks and veteran Michael Floyd was added via waivers.
All of a sudden, head coach Bill Belichick might have to consider entering the team’s divisional round playoff game agains the Houston Texans on Saturday with 5 active wideouts.

It will be interesting to see how Belichick and the Patriots handle the personnel.
