New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola may not be scared to catch a pass over the middle of the football field, but they were a little nervous heading into an actual lions den.
During the summer, prior to Edelman’s season-ending injury, both he and Amendola toured Mexico as part of an NFL promotion for the Patriots’ Week 11 game against the Oakland Raiders in Mexico City. While in Mexico, Edelman and Amendola got to be luchadors and flew in a hot air balloon. However, the most interesting part may have been at a rescue facility for large cats.
The two of them went to the maximum security facility, which is home to many lions, tigers, panthers and one cat they were able to meet up close and personal, a jaguar.
Their guide, Eduardo, led them into a secure part of the cage, a let them pet a real live jaguar.
Amendola appeared much less apprehensive than Edelman to go spend some time with the large cat. However, they both appeared to have a good time.
Maybe from now on that 250-pound linebacker in the middle of the field on their crossing routes won’t look as menacing to them as he did before. However, they also don’t have Eduardo to protect them on Sundays.
