Tom Brady is back. Rob Gronkowski is also back. The New England Patriots, as a whole, are pretty much back.
It took six weeks. Six very long weeks for Patriots fans, but it’s finally happened: the sign that shows all is well with Bill Belichick’s team. The Gronk Spike.
In today’s NFL, where celebrations and unsportsmanlike conduct have dominated both the headlines and the NFL’s weekly fine list, it’s almost cathartic to get just a simple, effective Gronk spike.
On top of that, it was a very good play from Gronkowski. He’s Brady’s favorite target, and though the ball is thrown low, it seems like that was intentional and that Brady trusted Gronkowski would be able to go down and get it. Of course, his trust is never misplaced when it comes to Gronkowski and the catch — and touchdown — is secured.
That’s one Gronk Spike down, and Patriots fans surely hope there are more to come.
