New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady knows that retirement has to be close at this point. He’s 40 years old. That’s well past the end of the line for most football players. He’s still playing at a high level, but he can’t do it forever.
So, what does he want to do when he’s done?
“The real answer is I have no idea,” Brady said, per Ben Volin of the Boston Globe. “I’ve never been faced with that. I’m sure it’s not too far in the future. That’s just the way it is. When you play for 18 years, obviously I’m not playing another 18. I don’t know.”
In 18 years, it will be 2035 and Brady will be 58 years old.
It does sound like he and his wife, model Gisele Bündchen, have talked about it.
“I’ve got a beautiful family, and I love spending time with them,” Brady continued. “I have a few off-field interests, but nothing that gets close to what playing football has meant to me. It’s been a part of my life since I’ve been, I don’t know, 13 years old. Twenty-seven years of it, 27 years of football in the fall and the winter, and I’ve really enjoyed it. So, I don’t know. That’s a good question. My wife says there’s Costa Rica, but I don’t see myself being in Costa Rica for that long.”
